Lihis by Joel Lamangan

The movie Lihis is about the two male NPA members that fell inlove with each other, Set in the 1970s. Lihis's story is a fight for Love, Freedom and it is against racism. Lihis showed different characters like the role of Isabelle Daza (Ada) A graduate and a Teacher who investigates the a massacre during Marcos time and as the movie goes by we eventually learn that Ada's parents are both communist Ka Felix and Ka Jasmine (Joem and Lovi) and the twist of this movie is that Joem or Ka Felix had a feelings for his fellow comrade Ka Jimmy played by Jake Cuenca. The forbidden love of these two lies at the heart of the movie.

Ka felix is bother about his sexuality and decides to continue his relationship with Ka Jasmine, because their fellow comrades are not voted with his relationship with Ka Jimmy, and Ka Felix wishes to live a normal life. but Love really gives a big impact in anything like family relationship, society and military and even in personal lives. but Ka Felix came back to his real love Ka Jimmy even if he has a daugther with Ka Jasmine, The movie is mainly about the issue we are alll familiar too and that is The Marial Law.

The lovers Ka Felix and Ka Jimmy is are already degraded in their group because of their relationship and homosexuality, but they're also fighting against social injustice. they fought by joining the communist, they're are really standing for what they believe is right. they are passionate about their beliefs and this passion also reflects in the relationship.

Jake Cuenca really suited the role "ka Jimmy", the more aggressive and passionate lover who goes all the way just to be with his love. it is new to see Jake in a new side of the industry because he has been the type casted male characters.

One of my favorite scene is the part where Jake cried out load in front of Joem's house that showed how Jake's character would do everything to express his feelings and longing for love.

Joem Basco suited very well his character, the sensitive one. his acting is very convincing. The viewers can feel is struggle as he choose between Jake or Lovi.

Lovi Pe really shined with her role, her role is very determine in what she wants to gets. at the end of the movie Love showed a a great climax scene where see releases all the bottled-up feelings towards her husband and his admirer.

Lihis is a promising film but ofcourse it also has its shortcomings,  it touches many issues that it made the audience confuse because it quite focused in the love story. back and fort or it brings the audience in the past then back again in the future i t can make confusion.
